WeavePoint for Layers taught by Jannie Taylor
“Layers” is another in our series of classes designed for the multi-shaft weaver who wants to enhance their understanding of weave structure and cloth construction while at the same time maximizing the functionality of their AVL loom.
The emphasis is on collaborative learning and hands-on experience. In this workshop, we look at several multi-layered fabric construction possibilities including: layers of structure, layers and blocks, stitched layers, creating 3-D structures and much more. The structure and “architecture” of these textiles will be explored and the issues surrounding weaving layered fabric will be covered. How to use WeavePoint to assist in the design process will be emphasized.
All materials and equipment will be provided including a comprehensive workbook and CD of all drafts used in the class. Sixteen and twenty-four shaft AVL Compu-dobby looms will be available for weaving samples during the class. Access to a computer running WeavePoint will be available, but students are encouraged to bring their own laptop computer to class if possible.
Skill Level: Intermediate: some software experience is desirable.
Duration: 2 Day Workshop: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm (1 hour lunch break)
Location: at AVL's facilities (2360 Park Avenue, Chico, CA)
