
WeavePoint for Echo & Iris taught by Jannie Taylor
WeavePoint for Echo & Iris is one of the AVL series: Workshops in Handweaving. These workshops are intended for the multi-shaft weaver who wants to enhance their understanding of a particular area of handweaving. As in all of the AVL classes, the emphasis is on collaborative learning and hands-on experience in a relaxed, supportive atmosphere.
In WeavePoint for Echo & Iris, we will learn how to use the tools found in WeavePoint to design weaving drafts based on some of the design concepts found in Marian Stubenitsky’s amazing book Weaving with Echo & Iris. Including, echo threadings, network designs, turned Samitum and Taqueté, use of color, multi-structure liftplans and much more. How to use the tools found in WeavePoint to assist in the design process will be emphasized.
All materials and equipment will be provided including a comprehensive workbook and a variety of Echo & Iris style drafts on a CD. Access to a computer running WeavePoint will be available, but students are encouraged to bring their own laptop that can run Windows based programs if possible.
Skill Level: Intermediate -- some software experience is desirable but not required. Class is limited to eight students.
Duration: 2-day workshop. 1-hour lunch from 12-1pm.
Location: at AVL's facilities (2360 Park Avenue, Chico, CA)
Cancellation Policy
If you cancel your enrollment in a class 30 days or more in advance of the class start date, you may choose to roll over your entire class payment to a future class or request a refund minus a 15% fee.
If you cancel your enrollment in a class 29 days or less in advance of the class start date, you will forfeit your entire class payment, except possibly in cases of extreme hardship upon the discretion of AVL Looms management.
If AVL cancels a class, you are entitled to a full refund of your entire class payment amount.
