The story behind the loom: In the late 1980s Jim Ahrens designed and developed a countermarch dobby using the classic/positive dobby head as the platform. He ended up loving the loom so much he kept one for himself for almost the rest of his life. AVL made a very small batch of these for a select few customers. This is one of a very limited number of survivors and it is in good condition. The original 1987 buyer of the loom loved and cared for it for many years. I bought it back from her almost 10 years now, making this a rare '1-owner' loom
Unfortunately, our plans for keeping the loom in our studio haven't worked out. It is a beautiful loom, but it's not getting used and we don't have the space for it. So, it is time to let it go. This is a great opportunity to own a piece of weaving history!
